About the photographer

I have been fascinated with photography and light since I was a teenager. But my first instrument that captured light and an image was, in fact, a microscope! Although I did eventually pick up a camera, my first love was science and medicine. I became a pediatrician, then I specialized in pediatric critical care medicine. I trained at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital where I had the opportunity to know some of the most compassionate, intelligent people in the world. I have benefitted from knowing them. When I did pick up a camera, I fell in love again! The ability to not only capture light but memories and time was captivating to me. And I have studied and learned from some of the most talented, creative photographers and graphic artists around me. Now, I am ready to explore a second stage in my life - sharing my photography and my art with anyone who wishes to take the journey with me.

Prints

Photographic prints are archivally printed on Kodak paper using printers that expose iight sensitive paper that is subsequently carried through a chemical process. These are real photographs, not inkjet prints. The prints are mounted on a 2 mm styrene backing and are ready for framing. The finish of the print - metallic, luster, pearl, watercolor, or fine art velvet - depends on the image. Some images present better with a matte or soft finish, some images present better with a sheen. I choose the finish that I feel best fits the image. However, if you have a strong preference for one type of finish, you can indicate that preference when you finalize your shopping cart - in the field titled 'additional requests'.

I can frame your prints, after matting with acid-free white archival mats, in elegant gallery frames with 2 inch solid wood mouldings in a black, cherry, bronze, or iron color finish.
